What does PDF upscaling improve?
PDF upscaling increases the pixel resolution of page images. It is most useful when a scan looks soft or pixelated at normal zoom. It is less useful for documents whose text and graphics were created digitally and are already sharp.
Small printed text
A higher-resolution page image can make printed letters look smoother. AI may also alter tiny characters, so verify names, figures, and legal text against the source.
Diagrams and line art
Scanned charts and line drawings may look cleaner after processing. Fine lines and labels still depend on the quality of the original capture.
Upscaling cannot recover information that is absent from the source image. For a severely blurred page, rescanning at a higher resolution usually gives a more faithful result.

Get a better result from a scanned PDF
The source scan matters more than the upscale factor. These checks help you choose the right file and understand the output.
Start with the best original
Use the highest-quality scan you have. Avoid repeatedly saving a screenshot or heavily compressed copy as a PDF; lost detail cannot be faithfully recreated later.
Use upscaling for image-based pages
If you can select text and zoom indefinitely without visible pixels, the PDF likely contains digital text or vectors. Upscaling it will rasterize content without much benefit.
Check the finished document
Compare small print, signatures, tables, and numbers with the source. AI may smooth or reshape marks, so the result should not replace the original for recordkeeping.

PDF upscaler questions
Can I increase PDF resolution without changing page size?
Yes. The output keeps the same physical page dimensions while replacing each page with a higher-resolution image. This does not preserve searchable text, interactive forms, or vector content.
Will AI upscaling make every PDF clearer?
No. It works best for low-resolution scanned pages. Digitally generated PDFs already have sharp text and usually do not benefit. Severely blurred letters cannot always be restored accurately.
Does my free PDF get uploaded?
No. For files of up to 5 pages within the free allowance, processing happens in your browser. If you sign in and explicitly choose to save the finished result, that output PDF is uploaded to private storage for 30 days. Cloud processing sends page images to our AI provider.
Why does processing take time?
AI upscaling uses your computer’s graphics processor or a cloud processor. Large pages and older devices may take longer. Keep this tab open until the download is ready.
How do credits work for larger PDFs?
One credit processes one page, with a current limit of 100 pages per PDF. Credits and purchase records are linked to your account and available after you sign in on another device.
How long can I download past results?
Saved output PDFs remain available in your personal center for 30 days after processing, then they are removed. Download any files you want to keep before they expire.
Can I use this PDF upscaler for confidential documents?
For eligible free files, the document remains on your device unless you choose to save the result. Paid cloud processing transmits rendered page images to an AI provider. Review the Privacy Policy before processing sensitive material.
